Citizen commissions are a vital part of our city’s democracy. That’s why I’ve committed to filling every commission seat before the end of this year. And so far, we’re on track to meet that goal, with more than half the vacancies filled.
As we move to fill the remaining seats, we are seeking interested residents who have the skill and energy to volunteer on a citizen commission and serve the people of Long Beach.
If you are interested in serving, please visit my website, take a look at the openings, and complete an application.
One of the commissions that has openings is the newly created Technology and Innovation Commission, which I proposed in order to support the use of technology to make government more responsive and accessible, and to support tech industry businesses in Long Beach. Anyone with a technology background is encouraged to apply.
Commissioners have an opportunity to offer ideas and feedback to me and to the City Council, and to actively engage in important policy issues. It’s important to me to appoint a diverse slate of commissioners with a passion for service. I hope you will consider applying.
